Measure A

Measure A is an education parcel tax of $850 per parcel with a 4% cost of living adjustment for nine years that supports Lagunitas Community School.

* Not a new tax — just a renewal of the existing parcel tax which has been in place since 1987 (renewed 3x)

* Funds quality TK-8th education in the valley including teachers, classroom aides, libraries, and core programs.

* Provides over 20% of the district budget — without it we will lose teachers, cut programs, and have larger class sizes.

* Benefits the entire valley by supporting the community: helping students thrive, attracting families and boosting property values.

* Structured and managed responsibly

  • Residential homeowners aged 65+ can seek exemption

  • Funds can only be spent directly on students

  • Flat parcel tax with annual adjustment reduced from 6.5% to 4%

  • Expenditures will be monitored by a citizens' oversight committee

Vote YES on Measure A to renew the parcel tax before it expires June 2026.

Yes on Measure A: Our Valley, Our Kids, Our Future

For over 30 years, the voters of the San Geronimo Valley have consistently supported local parcel tax measures to protect quality education in our public school. Measure A is a renewal of the existing parcel tax - not a new tax - that ensures continued investment in our TK-8th grade public school.

Measure A provides over 20% of our district’s annual budget. This critical funding pays for teacher salaries, classroom instructional aides, the school libraries, and other essential programs that keep our community school thriving.

The Lagunitas School District’s unique program and culture have provided the foundation for students to excel in academics, athletics, and visual and performing arts. Graduates of our local community school report that their experience helped them develop the social skills, empathy and the sense of responsibility needed to thrive in high school, college and beyond. A school like ours develops responsible citizens, attracts families, and enhances property values. The entire community benefits from having a great public school.

Measure A is fiscally responsible. It provides an exemption for homeowners 65 years and older and ensures that funds are applied only to items that have a direct impact on students. Also, this tax renewal includes a 2.5% reduction in its earlier cost of living adjustment.

Without the parcel tax funds, the school would need to reduce the number of teachers, increase class sizes, and reduce or cut critical programs and services including instructional aides and intervention. Such cuts would have devastating consequences for the school and the community.

Measure A ensures that Lagunitas, San Geronimo, Woodacre, and Forest Knolls students and community continue to benefit from a thriving public school that serves as a model for rural education throughout California.
